Mary's story

About 4 yrs ago we were asked if we would help a woman who had just been released from a woman's prison. She had been incarcerated for 12 yrs.As the story went she had a 9 mos old child which somehow fell down the steps and died.Mary told the authority's her baby had just started crawling and while she went to answer the phone the baby must of fallen.Mary was charged for the baby's death. When we went to the motel where Mary was you could tell she had been through alot,She was weathered looking and had a tough attitude. She spoke nothing of her incarceration nor did she seem eager to invite us in her room.So we handed her the clothes we had for her and Fr John gave her a small necklace with a cross on it.She thanked us as a few tears rolled down her eyes. She was surprised that someone had asked us to bring her some items. And she was more surprised we actually brought them.Fr John told her if she ever needed to talk to please get in touch with him.And he actually gave her our phone number. She said"that wont be necessary and handed the paper back.We often wonder what happened to Mary since she had left the motel shortly after with no forwarding address.

FINALLY A PERFECT FIT

These shoes although slightly used  are size 11 extra wide.Awhile back someone asked for size 11 men's sneakers. The junior high school boy kept getting blisters from all his old sneakers,And they thought possibly because they had been so worn. All we had was 11 extra wide.So we gave them to him.Happy to report him nor his mom ever knew shoes came in extra wide(lol). And now his feet are blister free. For now on we were told extra wide shoes is all he will wear.Yeah! He is back on the football field making goals.

TENT CITY OF LAKEWOOD -UPDATE

70 yr old man name Sam has just had his tent demolished by the Lakewood Township by order of the Mayor. The mayor there is Jewish and I wonder if the HOMELESS were Jewish if they would be treated in the same manner?Lakewood is pretty controlled by the Jewish Community .It boggles my mind how those who had ancestors during Hitlers time who were so horribly mistreated would not have any compassion for those struggling and who are homeless.May God have mercy on their souls.(this is my opinion only, not necessary that of those in the organization)

DESPERATELY NEEDED

LOOKING FOR ADULT TRICYCLE FOR 16 YR OLD DOWN SYNDROME GIRL.DOCTOR RECOMMENDS IT WOULD BE GOOD THERAPY FOR HER COORDINATION.THIS GIRL HAS NO FRIENDS AND LACKS ALOT OF CONFIDENCE.HER THERAPIST ALSO THINKS RIDING A BIKE COULD BOOST HER CONFIDENCE SINCE SHE HAS TROUBLE IN DOING THINGS.

After 1 Year we were able to fill a request

It was a small request.A man who is always working on his jeep asked us 1 year ago if we ever get a socket set if we would give it to him.The likelihood of getting one we figured would be along shot.Since most men cant part with their tools(lol). But a brand new socket set was donated and we got in touch with the man who requested it and yes he still very much needed one.So it was delivered to him 3 days ago.And the smile on his face made it worth the drive .

TODAY LET US PRAY

This week I talked with a woman with an inoperable brain tumor in her head. She talked about her life as a child. And  about how her parents whenever they beat her they would always punch her in the back of her head not to leave bruises. How often only 1 parent would physically abuse her at a time. But she did remember when she was 13 yrs old and was caught kissing a boy how they both grabbed her hair and took turns punching her in the head in the hallway of their house. She said:the abuse seemed like hours because it was longer than she had ever been punched and smacked around at 1 time. She mentioned she suffered with headaches for yrs.At the age of 16 she ran off with a boy she loved. He later became a drinker.By then she had 3 children. She definitely has had a hard life but somehow she has learned to forgiven all of them.So because of this conversation I would like everyone to take a few moments today and pray for all the children who are abused by the very people who are suppose to love and care for them. Many of these children do not live to tell of their abuse.(Sad world we live in for sure)

DID YOU KNOW???

1.40% of the homeless nation wide are veterans.
2.Many states are now arresting those who are HOMELESS saying it is a crime
3.Many states are charging fines to anyone who feed the HOMELESS
Often those in power in these states say they don't want anyone to feed them because it encourages the HOMELESS not to go to agency's or organizations that can help them. What they do not tell you is many HOMELESS don't look presentable enough for the staff to let them in their doors. There fore the HOMELESS cant apply for food stamps or some other assistance. One HOMELESS man has tried several times to apply for Obama Care but the agency in which he tried to go in refused entrance due to  his clothes are ragged. They told him come back when he is clean, groomed and look presentable. This man lives on the streets.
Many people especially Christians know the HOMELESS are not being treated right ,yet they never speak up in their defense. If we do not write, email or call those in office such as our congressmen, governor of the state or local mayors the HOMELESS will be forever abused, neglected and treated like trash. We must speak up for them.We must be their voice,we also must pray for all the injustices in the world, and there are many.

THANK YOU"S

Thank you Melodi in Jackson for baby items, childrens' books, wallets, purses, childrens clothes, lots of nice toys and blankets

Hilda's Neighbor

We had donated to Hilda several times. She and her family were struggling to make ends meet on her husbands small check. She most likely will always be on our radar when it comes to giving clothes out.As with medical problems no health insurance and a never growing boy it is a difficult road for them.Because we had been there several times over the yrs her neighbor had learned from Hilda who we were.We met Hilda's neighbor near Halloween we dropped off some decorations for her son to put up.The neighbor was thrilled to meet us.She told us she was going to have a nice Thanksgiving dinner,Turkey, potatoes the works she hoped. She even already invited her family and friends. She said their would be about 7 people. We told her that sounded wonderful. She was smiling ear to ear while telling us she had only 1 little problem she had no turkey,no potatoes,no real dishes or silverware. She was hoping we could help her out for Thanksgiving. She did have paper plates and plastic silverware. This would be the first dinner she has had in along time. She had always rented a room and could never entertain anyone but now she had a rented house thanks to welfare. And she just couldn't wait to cook a nice meal.(talk about a surprise).Hilda interrupted saying"yes, yes they will help you I know they will(nothing like being put on the spot,).Before Hilda and the neighbor ran off with all these plans I explained to them we can only give if someone donates.Hilda reassured her neighbor we would try our best since we had several weeks.Fr John just kept saying we will see what we can do after all we have many generous people around the holidays.Meanwhile I was having a fit with everyone excited about a meal that might never happen if they are depending only on us.About a week after that Fr John mentioned to his daughter Donna in Pa.about the neighbor.Within days Donna had went out and bought gold silverware, dishes, cups, stuffing, can cranberry sauce, mash potatoes, gravy, and jello. Now all we needed was a turkey.3 days before Thanksgiving we received a turkey.Arrived at the neighbor's house. She was thrilled. She kept saying over and over GOLD SILVERWARE FIT FOR A KING AND QUEEN.We learned later from Hilda the dinner was a success since she had been invited over there too.(no wonder Hilda wanted us to try our best to come through  lol..)

Larry the gardner

Last yr we delivered items to a woman who had asked for toiletries and paper products. While there we notice a man in her small garden. He was trimming some hedges. The first thing we thought was why does she need assistance if she could afford a gardner. When the woman answered the door she invited us in for some ice tea.Fr John loves to talk so he gladly accepted.I could not wait to ask her about her gardener. The woman mentioned the man had some mental problems but quite harmless. He lived with an elderly couple down the street. But for some reason he has been working in her garden for the past couple of months his name was Larry. The woman said, she tried on numerous occasions to get rid of him without calling the police. As she did not want him locked up.She even talked with his grandparents. But to no avail.Because,Larry has the mind of a teenage boy she finally gave in and let him tend to the garden. In exchange she would give him a meal. When leaving Larry came over and introduced himself. He told us he had been a gardener for yrs.He even gave me a bouquet of freshly picked flowers from the garden, lol.
Whenever I see flowers I often think back about the woman with the gardener Larry. How nice it was of her to accept him for who he was and let him continue doing what he loved-gardening.Its ashame more people don't give those with handicaps more chances to prove themselves. Many can be an asset. Many people go on first impressions which is not always true impressions. It just shows no one should judge a book by its cover

The importance of prayers

Prayers are our lifeline to God.Yes we can get by without praying for periods of time, but we often have feelings that are not only confusing but overwhelming in our daily struggles.Prayers can offer peace of mind.Spiritual nourishment and refreshment are much like our physical needs.Jesus himself when he was weary from hunger and almost tempted by the devil to turn stones into bread, replied:It is written,One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of GOD(Mathew 4:4

HOW TO ESCAPE TEMPTION
Step 1-look for the escape route(PRAY
Step 2-Take the escape route(RUN
Step 3-Enjoy your freedom(Dance
NO TESTING HAS OVERTAKEN YOU THAT IS NOT COMMON TO EVERYONE.GOD IS FAITHFUL,AND HE WILL NOT LET YOU BE TESTED BEYOND YOUR STRENGTH,BUT WITH THE TESTING  HE WILL ALSO PROVIDE THE WAY OUT SO THAT YOU MAY BE ABLE TO ENDURE IT

Tent City's In N.J. are being destroyed(where are the HOMELESS to go??

THE FIRST TREE HAS BEEN CUT DOWN IN LAKEWOOD NJ.WHERE 140 HOMELESS PEOPLE HAD LIVED AT TENT CITY.

A REQUEST

Many of our followers ask what we need in terms of donations. We always need baby clothes both sexes. But today our request is not one of material. It is one of whats right to help others less fortunate. We would like anyone who reads this to take 20 minutes out of their busy schedule and wright a letter to the Governor of NJ or County Freeholders and ask them to PLEASE help the homeless in Ocean County and surrounding areas. Many of you already know about the destruction of the TENT CITY"S in Camden and Lakewood NJ.These HOMELESS PEOPLE have no where to go.There are no shelters in their communities.Atlantic City shelter is filled to its capacity.Just here in Ocean County they made a new animal shelter but there is no shelter for people.WHAT DOES THIS SAY ABOUT OUR SOCIETY?All HOMELESS PEOPLE are not addicts or drunks. Many have mental illness, some have been kicked out of their homes as teens and then there are those who fought in the Vietnam War and came back not how they left.
In the BIBLE there are numerous passages that tells us how we should treat those who are poor or homeless.Even at times Jesus was HOMELESS during his ministry to others.
THANK YOU!(if you don't have any paper please send them an email)
