RESPONSE FOR THE PERSON WHO THINKS ITS A WASTE OF MONEY TO DELIVER ITEMS

WASTING MONEY IS WHEN SOMEONE BUYS CIGERATTES AND SMOKES THEM ALL.
WASTING MONEY IS WHEN SOMEONE BUYS ALCOHOL OR DRUGS TO FEEL HIGH
WASTING MONEY IS WHEN SOMEONE BUYS LOTTERY TICKETS AND NEVER WINS.
WASTING MONEY IS WHEN SOMEONE BUYS STUFF THEY DONT NEED

*************SPENDING MONEY FOR GAS TO DELIVER ITEMS FOR SOMEONE IN NEED IS NOT WASTING MONEY.IN FACT IF YOU WERE ON THE RECIEVING END YOU WOULD BE THE FIRST TO APPRECIATE THE EXTRA MILE OUR VOLUNTEERS GO TO TRY TO MAKE LIFE ALITTLE EASIER FOR SOMEONE.AND UNLIKE THE ABOVE THINGS THEY HAVE SOMETHING TO SHOW FOR IT.

A CONVERSATION WITH A WOMAN ON THE RESERVATION

When I called the Reservation I asked the woman who answered the phone what did she think would be the most important thing they might need there besides food. Her answer shocked me and it also saddened me. She said "some pacifiers for when the babies cry because they are hungry. "She explained to me the majority of children are being raised by their grandparents so nursing is out of the question. I am writing this conversation in hopes someone will read this and maybe send formula to the reservation. They also have a need for infant clothes .The address again is:

DID YOU KNOW THIS ABOUT THE HOMELESS?

MANY HOMELESS PEOPLE HAVE BAD FEET,ULCERS,CALLOUSES,SORES,CRACKED DRY SKIN AND INGROWN TOENAILS.THEY CANT AFFORD TO BUY A DECENT PAIR OF SHOES AND OFTEN THE ONES THEY HAVE ARE WORN OR SIMPLY NO LONGER GOOD FOR SUPPORT.MANY IN THE HOMELESS SHELTERS AND ON THE STREETS WOULD BE SO GRATEFUL IF THEY HAD A DECENT PAIR OF SNEAKERS JUST TO WEAR.THEY DONT HAVE MEDICAL INSURANCE SO SEEING A FOOT DOCTOR IS NEVER AN OPTION FOR THEM .SO THE NEXT TIME YOU BUY YOURSELF SOME NEW SHOES PERHAPS THINK OF BUYING ANOTHER PAIR AND SENDING IT TO ATLANTIC CITY RESCUE MISSION OR ANOTHER HOMELESS SHELTER.IT COULD MAKE A BIG DIFFERANCE FOR SOMEONE IN NEED.
OR MAYBE TAKE UP A COLLECTION OF DECENT MENS  OR WOMENS SNEAKERS FROM A CHURCH OR A GROUP OF PEOPLE.

On the way to give Dorothy items ,Debbie and our car was loaded

We meet Dorothy half way which is usually at the parking lot at Walmarts
Our volunteer Debbie helped load and unload vehichles due to me having had surgery on my left foot.Dorothy is inside the back of truck. They did not want me to keep walking back and forth on my foot, but as you can see that did not prevent me from taking a few pictures, lol

PRAYERS FROM THE CHURCH

Prayers are needed once again for those who live in TENT CITY in Lakewood.Another fire within 2 weeks.Only this time 1 man had been burnt and died.

A WARM COAT FOR JOAN

Many times senior citizens live on fixed incomes. And buying a warm coat for winter could actually be a hardship.Often they layer their sweaters to keep themselves warm.Or have been wearing the same coat for years which shows by the wear and tear. But we are happy to say Joan loves her much needed coat which we received as a generous donation.

Teen boy wishes for a pair of new sneakers

We were told about a young man who has been wearing the same sneakers for 2 yrs. And they are very worn . His mom feels they are good enough for maybe another year of wear.(the person who asked us to please put him on our list for size 11men shoes was not his mom. She is a friend of his mom who is also on a small disability check.

Happy & Sad Moments Remembered

happy being told we are going to receive a donated van to make pick ups and drop offs easier
sad finding out they lied
happy someone offered a car load of toys for Christmas all we have to do is go to the location to pick them up
sad finding out that the location is really an abandoned house and no one their with toys
happy several people offering to wrap gifts for us for the holidays
sad no one did (thank goodness for our dependable Lorie
happy someone has baby items for us and will be meeting us at a designated spot
sad after we arrive there the person calls us on cell phone and said they changed their minds, they think they will try to sell them thru craigslist
happy someone offered us a wheel chair for a handicapped person
sad they gave us one that was broken
happy received 2 giant trash bags of childrens clothes
sad to realize after sorting through the bags most of the clothes were worse than what you would find at the dump,so much wasted time
happy that someone asks Fr John to go to the hospital in an email to give prayers for a friend
sad to find out that person had died
REGARDLESS OF HAPPY AND SAD MOMENTS WE CONTINUE TO KEEP TRYING TO MAKE A DIFFERANCE IN PEOPLES LIVES.BUT,WOULDN'T IT BE SO NICE IF PEOPLE WOULD ACTUALLY COME THROUGH WHEN THEY OFFER INSTEAD OF WASTING OUR TIME.ESPECIALLY SINCE OTHERS DEPEND ON THEIR GENEROSITY.
*note-our volunteer Debbie had received a nice wheel chair from the Elks club in Bricktown so we were able to actually give the handicapped person a wheel chair they were able to use
