What Pat Said....

The Pine Ridge Reservation is about the size of the state of Connecticut.  A vehicle is a luxury.  They have the shortest lifespan of any other persons in the US - 48 yrs for a man, 54 for a woman.

They have a list called Okini - which is Lakota for "to share of material things" - this list is available on their website at www.nativeprogress.org.  Take a look at what is needed - it is for the most necessary items of family life, things many of us take for granted.

And Pat is totally on the mark - those folks we help here in NJ are wealthy in comparison to those who live on the reservation.  If you want to help - you can donate to us and we will find a way to get it there.  if you want to help directly, you can gather/purchase the needed items for a particular family and contact (email) the Okini Program Manager listed on the website and provide her with the family name and case number and she will provide you with a mailing/ship to  address for that family.

It would be wonderful to be able to do a food drive and ship a whole truckload to them!!
