OUR SURPRIZE
After the snow fell I dreaded going outside to clean the car and snow around the car. Where we live they do our sidewalks eventually .Since our car never sees the inside of our garage due to the fact we have donated items there, I knew I would have to tackle the weather brrrrrrrrrr. Only I was surprised to find out my neighbor cleaned all around the car for me . When I offered to pay him or give him a bottle of wine for the work he did. He said" no ,that's what neighbors are for to help each other. What a sweet heart. So would like to say a big THANK YOU to Artie.

2 potty chairs need asap for 2 Transitional House children
The first little boy was completely potty trained but when they left his abusive home they forgot to bring his potty chair with him . So they tried using the toilet. Well he was doing so good that the one day he did not want his mom to hold him while he was on it.(He fell into the toilet and has not attempted to use it again. He told his mom he wants his old potty chair
The second child has regressed back to needing diapers after arriving in the TRANSITIONAL HOUSE . And having a very difficult time adjusting to all the changes.

Make up also needed
2 women in the TRANSITIONAL HOUSE mentioned they have not worn make up in so long and if we could possibly get them some. Both women who asked have fair white skin. So if anyone has any eye shadow or mascara they are no longer using or maybe some new makeup please think of us.

LOOKS LIKE WE WILL BE GETTING MORE ITEMS FOR THE TRANSITIONAL HOUSE
Susan informed us that many have offered items for the women and children in this house.
If everyone actually comes through looks like they will all be living so much more comfortable very shortly.(I always get nervous because it has been my experience usually out of every 6 that offer help only 1 will come through).Let's hope there will be some blankets to replace the scratchy army ones they have.Susan has gone way out to spread the word on this situation. Because many women left abusive relationships Susan has even offered to do the pick ups for us . We are so lucky to have her .

TRANSITIONAL HOUSE UPDATE
Per Peaches, the 1ST drop off at the TRANSITIONAL HOUSE was a little hectic because the women and kids all ran out to help her and were eager to check what they
were getting . When the excitement died down they said to please THANK
EVERYBODY who is trying to help them. Although they still need a lot
more items, they were shocked that people have come together to help them
and they don't even know them. The one lady said 'I cant wait to use
that bath towel after my shower ". A few of the children said "yeah we
can all eat together at the same time" . And of course the woman who
brought this situation to our attention got first dibs on a towel and
wash cloth and some clothes. Peaches told them not to worry when we get
done collecting they won't need anything to be comfortable in the
Transitional House. She has a lot of faith not only in the volunteers
who are trying to spread the word but to the generous people who
continuously help us. Again thanks!

And to top it off our volunteer Debbie went and bought some towels and wash cloths using a coupon for KMart. A few more sets of dishes , silverware, blankets and pot n pans and they will defiantely have more than enough.YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks a bunch!
UPDATE ON LITTLE BOY WHO NEEDS A BIKE
Although his bike was a used one to him it was new. He is still so upset over his bike being run over . He doesn't understand why it can't be brought to a doctor to get fixed. So the family is having problems putting the broken bike out for trash. We are still trying desperately to get this boy another used bike. We heard at night he sleeps with his helmet . Guess he is afraid someone might take it also.

One of Our Kids Needs Help....
11:43 am this request just came in from Peaches.
6 yr old boy's bike was thrown in the street during nite and someone ran over it. He is heart broken. Even the training wheels were smashed. He was just learning to ride since Christmas. We would love to get him another bike to replace the one someone ruined . The size would be 16-18inch. Anyone who knows of someone who might be getting rid of an old one please let us know. A little boy has been crying all morning.

A CARD WE RECIEVED IN THE MAIL TODAY
This card was written by 1 of the Native Americans our volunteer Debbie sponsors. Her name is Helen. Fr John sent Helen a cross and our volunteer Susan sent her a comforter last yr.
Hi Reys
I thank you and everybody for sendin me some stuff. All of you make me very happy. I sleep with blanket and stay warm .I put the cross on top on wall .I get in car accident back get hurt and chest and back too .I am now sick yet I write to say thank you. My coat was cut in accident. Debbie sent me new coat .I am so very very happy.
Helen
This is exactly how Helen wrote the card. As you can read she is still over whelmed with what we have done for her. We hope she recovers soon from the car accident . The road was a sheet of ice and the driver of the car had skidded into a tree. Both of them had been hurt and the car was totaled. She will have to find a new way to get to her doctor appointments . But they are on the way to recovering.

The owner of Cross Mill diner made a differance in 2013
When the owner of this diner over heard us last yr talking about a needy family ,he and his family delivered items to them in Lakewood. To think someone took the time to reach out and help a single mom with 5 children impressed us so much. That whenever we are in the area we always eat at this diner. We hope they will have a very successful New Year.(this diner also one year did a toy drive for us for Christmas.).We might be a very small organization with hardly any resources but we definitely have left an impact on some thanks to generous people who have helped.

A FEW WHO LEFT A LASTING IMPRESSION ON US IN 2013
1.A man who we saw near CVS wearing mismatched shoes .He walked as if his feet were painful. We happened to have several pairs of mens boots in our car from a previous pick up that week. And when we asked the man what size he wore since we had extra in the car.He told us size 10.And we just happened to have his size.He was not only thrilled with them but he threw his mismatched shoes in the trash can outside of the CVS.(never did ask why his shoes didnt match)
2.The look on a little girls face when we gave her a doll. The doll was still in the box while the little girl was kissing it and holding the box ever so tight
3.Fr John gave a young man in front of Wawa a small cross on a chain.Fr John talks with this man once in awhile when he goes for coffee. This man actually reached for FR Johns hand and kissed the top of it and said THANK YOU FATHER,I NEEDED THIS .(note*Fr John has not seen the man since
4 While at the Stop n Shop an elderly woman was in line trying to buy some can dog food for her dog.The cashier kept explaining to her she did not have enough money for all the cans she was trying to purchase. The elderly woman explained to the cashier she could not put any cans back as her dog liked everyone of the flavors she picked(lol) and guess who was behind her in the line,I was. I paid the differance for them a whole $5.13.The elderly woman acted as if I gave her a million dollars..
5.The expression on the young mans face who received a guitar for Christmas was priceless. In fact he was so happy with it he started playing it right away. And recently heard from his mom.She says he plays it all the time.
6.A man with no coat no gloves was panhandling near Walmart. No one was paying attention to him.Almost as if he did not exist.I offered to buy him a coat since we were lucky this Christmas to receive a financial donation from John(a volunteer). The man followed me in the store tried on 2 coats. The one that fit I used the Holy Angels Bank Card on and also bought him a pair of gloves. He left the parking lot happier and warmer.I believe this man to be homeless.
7.A single mom who has been struggling all year had 2 children who had no school supplies nor decent clothes for school .We were fortunate enough to not only get some very nice clothes size 6/7 and 12 for the girls but some new school supplies from our volunteer Debbie. The mom was so choked up when we gave her the items she actually shed a few tears.(happy tears)
8.a single mom who had asked for socks and underwear for her children. When we delivered the items the children were so excited. We have never seen children react to getting socks like this before.Since we had also received several coloring books and crayons we added them in the delivery. (one of the boys said"wow
now we are really happy.I asked him "what do you mean? he said"mom told us we better act like we love the socks when you come" (lol kids can be so honest)

OUR FIRST DONATION FOR THE TRANSITIONAL HOUSE!!!!!
Maria from LEH is the first person so far to donate for the Transitional House. We thank her for this generous donation - our first set of dishes!!!
With 14 women and 18 children it's a start. I cant imagine waiting in turn to wash a dish and some silverware so another child could eat. But because of the lack of kitchen items that's exactly what they do. The children aren't always eager to wait for the ones to finish eating so they can get their turn. And who could blame them? Then there are the half of a beach towel the women use to dry off after a shower; if the towels are too damp, they must dried before they can be used for the children.
The majority of these women have left abusive situations and are desperately trying to start over. The lack of the necessities of everyday living only serves to reinforce their situation. Anything we can to do improve their lives will serve to empower them as they move forward.
In order to do this we DESPERATELY NEED:
Dishes of any shape kind or color - the more the merrier!! Mugs, cups, bowls, sippy cups, plastic sports bottles for older kids, pot and pans, flatware, kitchen utensils, bath towels, wash cloths, twin size sheets, blankets, comforters and toiletries. Please, please email us at holyangels@live.com to arrange a pick up and provide a receipt should you need one.

GIVE FROM THE HEART OR WE DONT WANT NO PART
A woman had emailed us asking why we did not accept some items from her neighbor.ITS PLAIN AND SIMPLE.WE DO NOT ACCEPT ITEMS NEW OR OLD IF THEY COME WITH STIPULATIONS.THE WOMAN WHO WANTED TO GIVE THESE ITEMS DID NOT WANT CERTAIN ETHNIC CHILDREN TO HAVE THEM.WE BELIEVE ALL CHILDREN ARE EQUAL NO MATTER WHAT RACE,RELIGION BELIEFS OR LANGUAGE THEY USE.ALL CHILDREN ARE GOD'S CHILDREN.AND IF NOONE CAN GIVE TO US FROM THE HEART THEN WE ARE NOT INTERESTED IN RECIEVING ANYTHING!
HAPPY NEW YEARS!
WHAT A WAY TO END THE NEW YEAR WITH SUCH A NICE THANK YOU CARD FOR PEACHESS AND SUSAN.AND NONE OF THIS COULD OF BEEN DONE WITHOUT THE HELP FROM GENEROUS PEOPLE LIKE THOSE WHO ANSWER OUR REQUESTS.WE BLESS EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU AND HOPE THIS YEAR WILL BE BETTER THAN LAST YEAR FOR ALL OF YOU.AGAIN THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO FOR US!
